Sports Massage at The cabin in lower Dean,  is provided by highly trained Sports Massage Therapist, Emily Ashford.

Sports massage is a deep tissue massage aimed at treating and rehabbing sports injuries.  You do not need to be an athlete to receive sports massage. It is a more focused approach to massage compared to Swedish or other styles of massage.

The techniques used by sports massage practitioners have been developed to ensure effective and efficient results are gained from each massage given.

Emily can also provide rehab, stretch and training programmes to aid in your recovery.

Soft Tissue Therapy may:

  • 'Improve circulation and lymphatic flow

  • Assist in the removal of metabolic waste

  • Sedate or stimulate nerve ending

  • Increase or decrease muscle tone

  • Increase or decrease muscle length

  • Remodel scar tissue when required

  • Assist in mental preparation for sporting participation

Initial Consultation

  • This appointment focuses on diagnosing your complaint, by discussing your case history. This will include your medical history and questioning in regards to current medications, you may like to bring a list of these with you.

  • You may be asked to dress-down to your underwear in order for your practitioner to assess the areas of discomfort, you may bring leggings / vest tops if you would feel more comfortable. You may bring a chaperone to any appointment if this makes you feel more comfortable.

  • Treatment will be given if appropriate to your diagnosis.
